Park News - (6/16/09) Today we’ve got a Trip Report from the Theme Park Review trip in progress which stopped into Sommerland Syd and Legoland Billund.
2010 - Templet - (4/20/10) Screamscape sources tell us that The Temple, the new dark ride at Legoland Billund, had their animated and scenic elements built by a company called UK Loco Limited. You can find other examples of their work at their official website. (3/19/10) Screamscape has confirmed that the new Temple dark ride going into Legoland Billund will not feature the same Sally Corp. animatronic characters as seen in Lost Kingdom Adventure (California) and Laser Raiders (Windsor). No word on who is providing the characters for the new Temple ride, though I would expect that this ride could possibly feature it’s own theme as well. (3/4/10) I’ve been sent a little more information about the new Templet dark ride. I’m not sure if Sally Corp is still doing the animated figures for the ride or not, but it was confirmed to me that Mack Rides is actually building the dark ride system and interactive laser guns. I’m told that this will be an “endless darkride” system, similar to what Mack has already built at Europa Park and Mirabilandia. (3/3/10) First Drop #86 reports that the park has already begun construction on a new Sally Corp. interactive dark ride called Templet (The Temple). The ride is expected to be a copy of the Egyptian themed dark ride instealled as Lost Kingdom of Adventure at the California park in 2008 and Laser Raiders in the Windsor park in 2009.

2012 - New Park - (8/31/10) According to this article, Legoland Malaysia held a competition to hire their first batch of Lego Model Builders who will construct the park’s many lego structures and monuments. The six chosen were then put into a 10 week training programs at Legoland California and Legoland Billund before being put to work on the new park. (12/4/09) According to this news report the new Legoland park under construction in Iskandar, Malaysia will be ready a year early, opening sometime in 2012. (12/16/08) Merlin Entertainment has confirmed that the deal was signed to build Legoland Malaysia in Iskandar. The $210 million project is expected to open in 2013, follwing Legoland Dubailand that is on track to open in 2011.

Park News - (1/31/10) According to this report posted at the Completely Legoland Windsor website, the park has begun the process of taking down the Jungle Coaster. Ever since it was modified, due to local complaints, to use enclosed cars, the operation of the ride has simply been a nightmare for the park. With the site now earmarked to become home to a possible future Legoland Hotel, I do have to wonder if they might consider moving the Jungle Coaster for use at another Leogland theme park… minus the enclosed cars of course. Check out the link above for a great video clip show off just what the ride experience from the enclosed cars was like. (6/19/09) A post over at UK Rides talks about a new planning application submitted by the park for future development. The plan calls for the removal of the Jungle Coaster which will instead be replaced by a new 150 room Legoland Hotel. They also have a short list of other future attractions they want to add: Atlantis by SEALIFE in the Creation Center building, a new children’s coaster next to the Dragon coaster, and new kiddie rides in Land of the Pharohs and Knights Kingdom, a new family coaster to replace the outgoing Jungle Coaster, monorail expansion, and something called the Jungle Cruise. You can see some of the items and artwork submitted here.
2010 - Jolly Rocker - (5/12/10) A picture of the new Jolly Rocker swing ship opened Legoland Windsor can be found here. The ride actually came in from another Merlin owned park where it ran for 26 years as the Santa Maria at Heide-Park, (11/2/09) According to a news article the park has applied for permits to build a new Pirate themed attraction. I’ve got to wonder if it might be a copy of the Pirate Shores area built at the California park that featured a Lego themed Splash Battle style ride along with other small pirate themed rides.
2011 – Project Atlantis - Planning - (5/28/10) Legoland Windsor have submitted applications to build a unique new dark ride for the 2011 season called Project Atlantis. It will be a sort of merger between the Sea Life style marine aquarium attraction and a dark ride it seems. More details can be found at the Completely Legoland Windsor site who have posted some of the plans. (11/2/09) Legoland Windsor has been conducting guest surveys lately to determine interest in other new attraction concepts. Concepts shown to guests include a Lego Atlantis themed aquarium attraction, Jet Raiders, a family inverted coaster themed to the Lego Agents toy line, Slime Wars, which seems to put the same inverted Jet Raiders coaster with a swamp theme and lots of water effects, Turbo Chase, an indoor/outdoor spy car themed roller coaster and Pirate Battle on Black Lagoon, a Splash Battle style attraction, possibly for last second feedback about the 2010 Pirate project or a possible 2nd year expansion.
2012 - Sea Life Aquarium - Rumor - (3/5/10) A little bird tells me that Legoland Windsor is looking to add their very own Sea Life Aquarium as early as 2012.
2012 – Legoland Hotel – Planning – (4/21/10) The official proposal for the new Legoland Hotel at the Windsor park confirms that they are proposing to locate the new hotel on the site of the former Jungle Coaster. (3/26/09) The park has announced plans to build an official 180 room Legoland Hotel in 2012, subject to obtaining planning permission to do so.
