PARAMOUNT MOVIE PARK KOREA
Incheon, South Korea,
Daewoo

New Park - (12/28/09) It’s been pointed out that if you take a close look at the artwork used for the Paramount park in Korea posted at TheThemeParkGuy (3rd row, 2nd picture), the artwork shown for the indoor coaster was actually used in a previous Paramount Park’s guest survey for a proposed retheme of the Flight of Fear coasters. As I recall myself, the attraction concept was called MTV Soundwave, and the idea was to transform the former Outer Limits rides into a ride through music light and effects experience, much like the Paris version of Disney’s Rock ‘n Roller Coaster.
(12/9/09) TheThemeParkGuy decided to drop by the site of Paramount Movie Park Korea and shoot a few new pictures. New construction walls, logos and some artwork were found, but the good news is that the ground breaking has taken place and construction is now under way. The concept artwork they’ve posted so far shows off a few interesting things such as one themed to the former Italian Job coasters, another showing a log flume going down the side of a Mayan temple, some kind of sci-fi looking indoor coaster, one that says, “School of Rock: Ride In Concert” and another themed to an attraction based on Titanic. A close up look at the School of Rock ride art shows it to be a dark ride of some kind, but instead of arming the guests with guns, it looks like they get to play along, Guitar Hero style, on little plastic guitars.
(5/25/09) All new concept artwork showing off the new Paramount Movie Park and Universal Studios park opening in South Korea has been posted to the DisneyandMore Blog. According to the blog the Paramount park is eyeballing attractions based on many of their popular films like Tomb Raider, Titanic, Mission Impossible and apparently even in talks to see about using Indiana Jones in some fashion.
(3/29/09) It’s been awhile since I’ve heard much about the Paramount Movie Park planned for South Korea, but The Theme Park Guy managed to go out and find the construction site for it. How do we know? Because there is a giant construction wall with the park’s logo on it, though he says that so far the only thing behind the wall seems to be a parking lot on one side and empty land on the other.
(5/20/08) A new update on the South Korea Paramount Park project has been posted here. According to the article the $1.4 billion project between Daewoo and Paramount has already started construction and will be called Paramount Movie Park Korea when it opens before the end of 2009.
(12/13/07) Daewoo reports that it has now signed a formal contract with Paramount Pictures to build a Paramount theme park in South Korea at cost of 1.5 trillion won ($1.6 billion). The park is expected to open by 2010 and just west of Seoul in Incheon, with construction to start by July 2008.
(5/10/07) According to this news article, Paramount Pictures Corp. and Daewoo Motor Sales Corp. will jointly invest over $1 billion into building a theme park resort on a 50-hectare plot Daewoo owns in Inchon. When it opened in 2009 it will feature a theme park, a studio facility, a 300 room hotel, a water park, media center and shopping mall. Construction is planned to start later this year.
(1/16/07) Daewoo Motor Sales Corp has announced that they are in talks with Paramount Pictures about building a Paramount theme park on a reclaimed land site west of Seoul  in New Songdo City.
