Today we take a look at the brand new US National Whitewater Center that just opened three weeks ago, after being delayed for the entire summer due to construction problems as well as complex issues revolving around the access road into the park itself.
Currently most of the center is still under construction, including the main visitors center building, the massive rock climbing walls, the ropes challenge course and more. However the centerpiece of the center that really makes it unique are the two manmade Whitewater Rivers that you can experience via raft and kayak.
Water is pumped to the top where it travels down the two courses, one more mellow for those just looking for fun or to get a small taste, while the second course was designed to be an Olympic caliber training facility where the water flow and intensity of the rapids can be dialed up from Class II to Class IV. When you hit the bottom, they’ve installed a large conveyor belt lift hill to hoist your raft back to the top so you can take another run without ever touching dry land.
You can visit the official site at USNWC.org.
