WARNER BROS. WORLD
Indoor Theme Park
Abu Dhabi, UAE
New Park - NOW OPEN -
Park News - (2/17/19) We love Dark Rides here at Screamscape and a reader sent in a link to a video showing off a unique new dark ride that opened with the new Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi park. Check out the video below to see “Justice League Warworld Attacks”, which uses the same style technology and concepts behind the everpopular Adventures of Spider-Man dark ride at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, taking guests on a romp into the center of the animated action as the Justice League battles the forces of Warworld in 4D.
Plus an awesome extra treat… it sounds like they got Kevin Conroy back to voice Batman.
(11/24/19) Screamscape sources tell us that The Matrix will not be used as the theme for any future attractions being planned for the park. In fact, we were told that we really shouldn’t expect anything new that might be themed to a traditional live action movie IP at all, as the theme of the park is really aimed at stories and worlds that are animated and comic based in nature.
(11/12/18) According to another article about Warner Bros World in Abu Dhabi, they say that in addition to the hotel they want to open in two years, there are also plans down the line to add a CityWalk style retail/entertainment development to the area. They are also looking into adding new attractions that would see the existing building expanded which could begin to happen as early as the next two years.
Asking around about what kind of attractions could be added in the future, apparently a number of concepts have been pitched, from interactive CGI character experiences to a drop tower ride of some kind, to things far more ambitious. One of the latest is said to be a new concept ride experience that could be themed around The Matrix movies.
(11/8/18) According to this report the Warner Bros World theme park in Abu Dhabi will soon build a new hotel that will be built and semi-connected to the theme park. If all goes as planned the new hotel property should be open by the end of 2020, with 156 rooms and “156 apartments”.
2018 - New Park - (11/20/18) Good news for those planning a visit to Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, the Batman: Knight Flight dark ride, said to be a similar ride system to Universal’s Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey attraction, opened to the public late last week. The attraction sends guests on a wild adventure flying through Gotham City in a four-passenger vehicle after taking a tour through the Wayne Tech building. A picture of the queue and ride vehicle can be found posted to ThemeparX this week.
(10/19/18) Screamscape sources tell us that final programming is apparently still ongoing at Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi for the Batman Knight Flight ride. As suspected, the ride hardware is said to be from Dynamic Attractions and similar in concept to what was used for the Harry Potter & The Forbidden Journey attraction at Universal. Based on the state of thing when the park opened in August, the thought was that Batman Knight Flight MIGHT be ready to open close to the end of the year if all goes well. Keep in mind that this is a highly complicated attraction that takes a lot more work to install, program and test before guests can ride.
(10/18/18) According to a reader who dropped by the Warner Bros World park in Abu Dhabi the park was in “full swing” when they visited, with all the attractions up and running now with one major exception… the “Batman Knight Flight” themed Kuka robot arm attraction is still not open. Actually, it isn’t even listed on the park’s website or app anymore either. You can see the entrance of where it will be in the park, and there is even a test-seat set up for it behind some glass, but apparently there isn’t even an attraction sign up for it in the park as something coming soon. When they questioned the park staff about it they were told that the ride had not opened yet and they were told it may be some time before it is ready to open. Anyone know more?
(7/27/18) An extensive collection of new photos showing off the brand new Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi theme park can be found posted to ThemeparX this week.
(7/26/18) The new Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi parks officially opens today and while we couldn't be there in person for the grand opening, our friends at BlooLoop have posted a fairly extensive article showcasing the new park in great detail with a lot of on-site photos.
(7/16/18) The official grand opening of Warner Bros. World in Abu Dhabi is just a little over a week away (July 25th!) and already a few new preview videos of the park have begun to appear online showing off a better look at the park itself, as well as some of the attractions. The video video below goes through each of the park's lands as part of a preview tour of the park, complete with guides explaining some of the features in each land.
Plus there are many surprises that the park has not shown off yet in terms of some of their major attractions that are having the final coat of polish being applied up to the last second before the park opens. Just from the early visuals I've seen so far, this is going to be quite the stunning park experience, especially as an entirely indoor attraction.
The idea of indoor parks has always made me wonder how well they hold up in the long term, as outdoor parks are always in a never-ending process of change and growth over the years. That process will always be more difficult for indoor attractions, short of expanding upon the main structure with new additions over the years, but I'd love to know if the park itself was pre-built with sections left open for future expansion opportunities.
Either way, I'd love to see it myself someday.
(4/20/18) According to the official announcement from the park, the new Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi indoor theme park will open to the public on July 25th. The park is massive, said to be 153,000 square-meters (1.6 million sqft) in size, and will be the largest indoor theme park in the world when it opens.
Meanwhile TravellerCzech was able to attend a sneak preview visit of the park this past week and has posted a ton of photos that are worth checking out to see just what the new park is really like.
(3/30/18) The latest attraction reveals from Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi show off Dynamite Gulch, home to Looney Tunes characters like Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, Yosemite Sam, Marvin the Martin... and some for odd reason, The Jetsons are here as well. The attractions include "Fast and Furry-ous", a fun family inverted ACME powered roller coaster over the land, "Marvin The Martian Crater Crashers" which sounds like bumper cars and The Jetsons Cosmic Orbiter (a kiddie spinner ride maybe).
They also show off the land of Bedrock, home to the Flintstones of course where you can ride the Flintstones Bedrock River Adventure (flume ride) and dine on Bronto Burgers and no sparing the Spare Ribs.
(3/1/18) According to a Screamscape source, the press release about the Batman: Knight Flight ride opening at Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi did a terrible job explaining this attraction. While they call it a flight simulator, if you look at the artwork they show, it looks to have a lot more in common with Harry Potter for the Forbidden Journey at the Universal theme parks. This is because Batman: Knight Flight will apparently be a next-generation Kuka Arm dark ride creation... and not just another flight simulator, which just really peaked my interest in this particular attraction so much more.
(2/28/18) A few more cool details have been released about Warner Bros World in Abu Dhabi, this time they are all about the various Batman / Gotham City themed attractions. For example, a highlight of the new Gotham City land will be Batman - Knight Flight, a new "immersive simulator ride" where guests get to ride in a remote controlled Batwing.
Other attraction include: Scarecrow Scare Raid (featuring dramatic aerobatics and barrel rolls), Riddler Revolution (Looks like a Zamperla Disk'O Coaster), The Joker's Funhouse and plenty of midway games in the Rogues Gallery at Gotham Pier. Follow the link over to BlooLoop to see a few new pieces of Gotham City artwork as well.
(2/9/18) According to BlooLoop, an agreement with the Abu Dhabi government has been signed with SkyTran to build a unique overhead rail system that in the first phase would connect Ferrari World to the new Warner Bros World theme parks by 2020. This will be a direct connection between the two attractions where riders sit inside enclosed four-person pods. Future phases will connect to other nearby attractions, hotels and even the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
(2/8/18) New concept art and details from the soon to open Warner Bros. Adu Dhabi indoor theme park have been posted to BlooLoop this week, showing off two of the park’s themed lands: Metropolis and Cartoon Junction.
Metropolis seems like it will have some great attractions hidden inside the skyscraper filled landscape. There will be “Superman 360: Battle for Metropolis”, which in the artwork looks like guests will stand in the center of a 360 screen and watch Superman save Metrolpolis from an battle an invasion of Brainiac robots. “Justice Leage: Warworld Attacks” will be an intense dark ride experience with projection media and special effects that looks like it could offer a similar experience to Universal’s Spider-Man and Transformers dark ride. Then there is “Green Lantern: Galactic Odyssey”, a 4D Flying Theater attraction. Other attractions include the Teen Titans Training Academy multi-level play structure.
Meanwhile the main attractions of Cartoon Junction will be the “Tom and Jerry Swiss Cheese Spin” dark spinning coaster and “Scooby-Doo Museum of Mysteries”, a new trackless dark ride experience where the guests tag along with with Scooby and the gang as they try to solve their latest mystery. Other attraction here will include the ACME Factory with three kiddie rides (Daffy’s Jet-Propelled Pogo Stick, Tweety’s Wild Wockets and Richchet Racin’ with Taz), a Cartoon Junction Carousel, a Bugs and Daffy character meet and greet area and “Ani-Mayhem”, “an interactive ride that takes passengers on a rollicking mission to deliver their own cartoon chaos”.
(12/13/17) The new Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi theme park has now opened their new preview website, including an area you can sign up to get email updates about the park as news items are released. The site also lists the park's six themed lands as:
Warner Bros. Plaza - General Entry Area
Bedrock - Flintstones
Dynamite Gulch - Wile E. Coyote, RoadRunner, Yosemite Sam, Marvin the Martin and The Jetsons
Cartoon Junction - Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, Scooby Doo, etc...
Gotham City - Batman
Metropolis - Superman
While I'm on the subject... you can see some great new photos from the construction site posted to TravellerCzech this week.
(4/26/17) A new report lists that the Warner Bros World indoor theme park in Abu Dhabi is now 60% complete and is still on schedule 2018. The report also lists the six themed lands that will make up the park: Metropolis, Gotham City, Cartoon Junction, Bedrock and Dynamite Gulch... all themed to characters from DC Comics, Looney Tunes or Hanna-Barbera. The last land, Warner Bros Plaza, will serve as the entry area to the park as well and feature an classic era Hollywood theme. Follow the link to the article, which also has some concept art from several of the lands on display showing off some of the themed attractions.
(4/1/17) A few new pictures from Warner Bros. World at Abu Dhabi were posted to ThemeparX this week and through the aid of some photo manipulation you can actually see some coaster track set up inside the building for one of the new attractions. Scroll down to see more photos taken outside of the park's giant structure.
(3/1/17) According to this news report ride installation and testing is underway at the new indoor Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi theme park. According to Miral’s Cheif Exec, the park is coming together smoothly and is on track to open in 2018.
(1/31/17) With construction on the Warner Bros. Abu Dhabi indoor theme park now fully under way a new photo construction update has been posted to TravellerCzech this week that is worth looking at. From what I can see it appears that much, if not all, of the outer shell of the massive park building is now up and in place, with the majority of it looking to have had the outer walls and access doors installed as well. I’ve been hearing some very interesting things about just what guests will find inside when it opens as well that I hope to share with everyone soon, so stay tuned!
(11/7/16) ThemeparX has posted some great new pictures of the massive structure going up that will contain the new Warner Bros. World theme park in Abu Dhabi, located just down the road from Ferrari World and the Yas Waterworld parks.
While we have seen pictures of the active construction site posted before now, I'm happy to report that the Warner Bros. World theme park for Abu Dhabi at Yas Island has now been confirmed and will open in 2018 and will be located near to Ferrari World and the Yas Waterworld waterpark.
The indoor theme park will feature the worlds of the DC Comics Heroes and Villains with lands themed to both Gotham City and Metropolis, the well known WB Looney Tunes characters will be represented as well as Tom & Jerry and even Hanna Barbarra characters like The Flintstones and Scooby Doo.
(1/11/16) Construction photos from the new Warner Bros. Abu Dhabi theme park now under construction have been posted to ThemeparX this week.
(10/20/15) New pictures showing off the signs of work taking place behind the walls for the Warner Brothers theme park project in Abu Dhabi just down the street from Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld waterpark have been posted to ThemeparX.
(5/12/15) ThemeparX report that the Warner Bros. Abu Dhabi theme park project has begun construction on Yas Island, "adjacent to Yas Waterworld".
(3/3/15) A construction wall has now been put into place around the proposed Warner Bros. theme park site in Abu Dhabi, according to pictures posted at ThemeparX. They have also posted an interesting piece of concept artwork showing off an indoor WB theme park concept that was designed for the project at one point in time.
